US China trade war

China and the U.S., the world’s two largest economies, have been quarreling over trade for months, engaging in a tit-for-tat tariff battle and intermittently frightening investors with the prospect of a full-blown trade war. ICAEW’s Hong Kong chapter offered insights entitled “US – China Trade War – Disputes, Counter-measures, Allies and Wooing other global nations”.

Hosted by Edward Chow, Hong Kong’s Chapter Committee Chair and bringing together experts from Baker McKenzie, EY and The Economist Corporate Network.

Capitalising on China

On 31 May 2018, ICAEW's Hong Kong Chapter hosted an event entitled ‘Capitalising on China’, where experts shared their thoughts on the shifting financial, economic and political landscape in China. Here you can watch the keynotes presentation from Robert Koepp, director of The Economist Corporate Network, as well as excerpts from the panel discussion where he was joined by Connie Bolland, managing partner and chief economist at Economic Research Analysis (ERA) and Andrew Weir, FCA, senior partner at KPMG.

Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA)
A non-profit organisation, whose aim is to improve corporate governance and regulation in Asian countries. Information includes code and rules on company law, accounting standards, regulations and listing rules in China.

European Corporate Governance Institute
The European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) aims to provide 'a forum for debate and dialogue between academics, legislators and practitioners, focusing on major corporate governance issues and thereby promoting best practice'. The ECGI website also provides a directory of national Corporate Governance Codes, Principles & Recommendations.
