Audit Insights: Manufacturing
An overview of the sector from ICAEW's Audit & Assurance Faculty. The report is the work of a group of experts from the largest audit firms, based on their many years of experience with manufacturing clients across the UK and internationally. Published in July 2013.
A monthly compendium of UK economic data from the Office for National Statistics. The report includes manufacturing indices. Published as the Economic & Labour Market Review (ELMR) from 2007 to July 2011 - available on the National Archives website
EEF: Research and intelligence
The EEF is an industry body for engineering and manufacturing employers. It publishes research reports, economic briefings and information on pay benchmarks.
Index of Production
Monthly data released by the Office for National Statistics showing the volume of production at base year prices for the manufacturing, mining and quarrying and energy supply industries.
Quarterly report with sector analysis and forecasting published by BDO and EEF.
The monthly releases for the Markit UK/CIPS Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index provide an insight into manufacturing production and the performance of the sector. The index is 'based on data compiled from monthly replies to questionnaires sent to purchasing executives in over 600 industrial companies'.
ICAEW produces a series of Business and Industry Guides that collect useful market research reports, statistics, trade bodies and trade journals.
