Former London president elected ICAEW VP
Will Brooks, LSCA President in 2009/10, has been elected as the next ICAEW Vice President to take office in June 2019, and vows to help restore trust in the profession.
Brooks is Managing Director at Eximus Capital. His election means that he will take over the role of ICAEW President in June 2021.
Brooks completed his training in 1980 with Dearden Farrow, joining Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co (now KPMG) in 1981 where he stayed for five years, specialising in banking and securities work. He then carved out a career at board level in the City, going on to establish his own consulting firm in 1991, providing business planning, corporate finance advisory and fund management services under FSA regulation.
Brooks has been heavily involved with ICAEW since 2000. He served for nine years as an examiner for the Advanced Case Study and more recently as a member of the Disciplinary Committee.
In 2009/10, Brooks was elected President of the London Society of Chartered Accountants. He is now a member for London on ICAEW Council and an elected member of the ICAEW Board.
Brooks said: “Our institute is an organisation to be proud of and I want to see ICAEW operating world-wide and respected everywhere. I believe that ICAEW is currently facing three key challenges: trust in the profession, digital changes and global development. We are more than capable of addressing these, but successful outcomes will take effort and time. I look forward to contributing further to our endeavours in these areas and I hope that during my time in office I will be able to build on our already strong name.”
